Plea for vigilance after two killed on roads overnight
There’s a renewed warning this morning for all drivers to take care following two fatalities on the roads last night.
A pedestrian died when she was hit by a motorcyclist at Cheltenham just before 6pm.
The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in the collision and was conveyed to hospital.
Warragul Road was closed for some time after the smash.
Just 90 minutes later, a man died in a two-car crash at Clarkfield.
The killed driver was travelling along Lancefield-Melbourne Road when it collided with a ute travelling along Sutherlands Road.
Anyone who witnessed either crash is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
The 2017 road toll (137) is significantly down compared to last year’s horror at the same time (156), but only slightly lower than the five-year average (144).
