The Prime Minister has offered his sympathies to the father of Justine Damond who was shot dead in the U-S.

The 40-year-old Australian woman died after she was shot by a police officer outside her Minneapolis home.

US police have now released transcripts of Ms Damond’s two 911 calls.

Malcolm Turnbull has told 3AW’s Neil Mitchell, the incident is a terrible tragedy.

“The whole incident with the shooting of Justine is completely and utterly inexplicable,” the PM said on 3AW Mornings.

“It doesn’t make any sense that a 40-year-old woman, going out to speak to police officers in her pajamas, can be seen as a threat.”

Also on the agenda:

The PM insists the creation of a Home Affairs portfolio is one that’s been under consideration for a long time.

Former leader Tony Abbott has revealed he was advised against the creation of the super-ministry when he was PM.

Turnbull told Neil Mitchell, the Federal Government has made the right call.
