PM says Michaelia Cash is ‘mortified’ after she was caught failing to register financial interests properly

The PM says Michaelia Cash was left ‘mortified’ after she was caught failing to declare a mortgage on a $1.4m investment property.

Malcolm Turnbull told 3AW’s Tom Elliott he spoke with the Employment Minister who acknowledges she made a mistake. 

The PM says Ms Cash, who recently purchased the property, was eight days late in declaring it.

‘The public hold us to very high standards and we have to comply with them,’ Turnbull said on 3AW Drive.

‘She is a very hardworking, punctilious Minister.

‘She’s had an oversight here, she’s very sorry about it and I’ve accepted her apology,’ says Turnbull.
