1000 Steps gets drinking fountains to stop littering

Drinking fountains will be installed at one of Victoria’s biggest tourist attractions, the 1000 Steps.

Jason Wood, Member for La Trobe, says that the main reason is to provide water to thirsty tourists.

“Each summer on a weekend you can have 30,000 people actually use the steps,” said Mr Wood.

When pressed by Ross and John about people dumping their plastic water bottles on the steps, Mr Wood agreed that littering is a contributing reason.

“There is definitely a problem with littering,” said Mr Wood.
