Almonds continuing boom times in Australia
Australia’s almond orchard continues is expansion, the total planted area increasing by nearly 5,000 hectares to be over 53,000 hectares.
The growth is being matched by strong demand on the domestic market.
Exports has also been accelerated in the past 12 months, more than 39,000 tonnes of almonds sold to China.
Rural editor Eddie Summerfield caught up with Almond Board of Australia Chief Executive Ross Skinner shortly after the release of the 2019/20 almond insights.
