Calls for a total ban on gambling advertising

Amanda Gailiss has called for a blanket ban on gambling advertising.

The former youth governor of Victoria told Tom Elliott gambling should be treated the same way as smoking.

“Advertising can encourage you to do things you wouldn’t necessarily have done otherwise,” Ms Gailiss said.

Ms Gailiss said there will be a spike in gambling addiction in the coming decade unless something is done.

But Tom said there’s no issue with gambling ads if people know that they’re unlikely to win.
