Calls to ban the whip from horseracing

The RSPCA wants to ban the whip from horseracing.

CEO Heather Neil told Tony Jones their research shows most Aussies don’t support horses being whipped

“Horses will still run really fast without a whip,” Ms Neil said.

“You can’t do (it) if you’re off the racecourse.

“There’s absolutely no evidence that a whip makes any difference to the performance of a horse.”

But Tony said Cup Day not the right time to bring this up.

“I think you’re raining on their parade,” he said.
