Concerns over a decline in economics at high school

There’s growing concerns by the RBA over a decline in students studying economics.

Andrew Leigh, Shadow Assistant Treasurer and former professor of economics at the Australian National University spoke with Ross and John.

He said one in 50 kids at university study economics, that number is slightly more in high school.

“These numbers have been trickling down in the last couple of decades,” he said.

“Modern economics is really a very different discipline for what it once was.”
