Department to investigate claims of animal cruelty on live export voyage

Rural News

The Agriculture Department has been asked to investigate claims of animal cruelty on a live export voyage to Israel.

At least 64 cattle died on the voyage on the Livestock Shipping Services operated ship Maysora.

Vision captured by an Israeli animal rights group shows animal tails being pulled, excessive electric prodder use, and workers standing on the backs of cattle.

Rural reporter Eddie Summerfield caught up with Australia Live Exporters Council Chief Executive Mark Harvey-Sutton.
