The Electric Vehicle Council wants subsidies for consumers.

They’re calling on the government to make buying an electric car more viable for ordinary Australians.

CEO Behyad Jafari told Tom Elliott it’s about more than just the environmental benefits.

“You’d want to kickstart the market right away to provide certainty for more industry investment,” Mr Jafari said.

But Tom said people are already being subsidised in that they won’t have to pay tax on petrol.
