Ex-AFL player’s multi-million dollar US coffee venture

TOM ELLIOTT

Nick Stone is making a mint selling coffee in the USA.

Stone, who played 20 games for Hawthorn and St Kilda from 2002-05, moved to New York in 2010 when his partner got a job there.

He told Tom Elliott he couldn’t believe how much worse the coffee is over there.

“The whole business came out of self-necessity,” he said.

Stone started Bluestone Lane, which has since grown to 20 coffee shops.

He is hoping to double that by the end of 2018.

“Many (Americans) are moving towards high-quality espresso beverages,” he said.

As well as playing as a Hawk and Saint, Stone spent time on Collingwood’s list.
