Farmers reject proposed Biosecurity Levy

Grain producers are urging the Government to rethink its proposed Biosecurity Protection Levy.

The peak body for the industry argues the existing proposal is a tax, not a levy, and doesn’t guarantee the funds collected will benefit biosecurity measures.

Rural reporter Madelaine McNeill spoke to Grain Producers Australia chief executive Colin Bettles to find out more about the planned levy and how it could affect the industry.
