Finance guru explains why Halloween has gotten so big in Australia

TOM ELLIOTT

Halloween is a solely American holiday no more.

It seems Aussies are getting behind Halloween in a big, big way.

Finance guru Scott Haywood told Tom Elliott one in two Australian families with children participate.

“Last year, Target ran out of goblin outfits, Spotlight went through a record number of sheets,” Scott said.

“Coles are estimating that they’re going to sell more than 400 tonnes of pumpkins.”

Scott said part of the appeal is that it’s a holiday you you can spend with mates, rather than family.
