Flip Shelton’s bizarre tale of menu fraud

Ross and Russel

Apparently our appetite for trendy cafe and restaurant meals has prompted a wave of menu fraud: falsely using brand names to describe your food.

The story comes as no surprise to 3AW regular Flip Shelton.

Friends recently alerted her to the fact that a Melbourne cafe’s menu spruiked ‘Flip Shelton Muesli’, even though what they served was not Flip’s muesli.

So Flip, a very patient lady, visited the cafe and suggested they might like to either remove her name or – even better – actually buy her muesli.

The chef refused.

“He said the customers might not like my muesli,” she told a shocked Ross and John

For weeks and weeks she tried to make him see sense, but the extraordinary excuses flowed and Flip had to pursue expensive legal action.
