Flu warning after a young dad’s tragic death

Ross and Russel

Doctors are warning the flu is not only deadly for the elderly and terminally ill, after a tragic death at the weekend.

Bacchus Marsh man Ben Ihlow, 30, died on Sunday, less than a week after coming down with the flu.

It was his first Fathers Day after wife Samantha gave birth to son Andrew (both pictured below) earlier this year.

Infectious disease expert Professor Ian Mackay today told Ross and John it doesn’t appear the man had any underlying conditions

“It doesn’t surprise me because flu can do this to otherwise healthy people,” he said.

“It’s always tragic when this sort of thing happens … but each year, flu does take a toll on healthy people, old people and young people.”
