Australia’s Foreign Affairs Minister has implored allies to escalate pressure on North Korea to levels previously unseen.

Julie Bishop told Neil Mitchell North Korea’s latest tests are “exponentially more powerful” than previous tests and “a serious escalation”.

“We’ve got a long way to go in terms of diplomatic and economic pressure,” she said.

“We certainly urge all countries to place unprecedented pressure on North Korea.

“It has to pay a significant price for this defiance.”
