Hit Carole King musical comes to Melbourne

Smash hit Beautiful: The Carole King Musical is coming to Melbourne.

The musical tells the true story of the legendary singer’s journey from teenage songwriter to international superstar, including her many troubles on the way.

Leading man Josh Piterman told Denis Walter the story before King’s breakthrough album, Tapestry, is largely untold, including her prolific songwriting partnership with Gerry Goffin.

“People just don’t know about her life with Gerry,” said Piterman, who plays Goffin in the musical.

“They really only just know her from Tapestry onwards.”
