Honey industry’s sticky fight for manuka

Australian honey producers are in the dark about the future in their fight to keep using the term ‘manuka’.

Backed by the New Zealand Government, the Kiwi honey industry is pushing to trademark the descriptive term that’d force Australian producers to find a new name for the golden spread.

Adding to frustrations the Federal Government is yet to financially back the industry.

The matter was due to be heard in a New Zealand court today, but that’s been delayed.
