Jacinta Allan warns angry taxi drivers stay calm and carry on

Tom Elliott

The Transport Minister has warned angry taxi drivers they will lose community support if they continue to make life difficult for passengers.

But drivers have told 3AW they intend to turn their back on airport customers.

“If something like last night happens, it will be dealt with very quickly,” Jacinta Allan told Neil Mitchell.

“They’re really just driving (customers) to their competitors.

“When you get off the plane, you just want to get home, so this sort of action is going to make people very angry and frustrated.”

But many drivers have thumbed their nose.

In an emotional call to Neil Mitchell, cabbie Kim said her colleagues were refusing to attend the airport today.

“We’re going home,” she said.

“We’re not picking anyone up. Why should we?

“It isn’t fair, it’s so wrong!”
