A genome database is being established by the national science agency to help better control and manage invasive pests.

Animals and weeds have cost the country $390 billion over six decades.

Rural editor Sophie Clarke caught up with CSIRO principal research scientist Tom Walsh to hear how unravelling their genetic blueprints will assist in managing or eradicating them.
