Neil Mitchell grills Scott Morrison over the new energy guarantee
Neil Mitchell has grilled Scott Morrison over the proposed energy guarantee.
The Treasurer unveiled a “guarantee” of more reliable and affordable energy on Tuesday, scrapping the clean energy target.
But he refused to guarantee that energy bills would fall by the predicted $115.
Neil: Do you guarantee $115 off power bills?
Morrison: That’s the assessment that John Pierce has made from the Energy Security board.
Neil: So it’s a prediction rather than a guarantee.
Morrison: That’s what they described it as.

Mr Morrison said having more contracted energy in the market will improve the reliability of energy delivery.
“The plan is to get the reliability guarantee in well ahead of the emissions guarantee,” he said.
“We would love to see it in place by late next year.”
