Neil Mitchell speaks to a woman who was caught up in two jewellery store robberies

NEIL MITCHELL

When a Toorak jewellery store was robbed twice, one woman was unfortunate enough to be caught in the middle of both events.

Still shaken, Elaine Frankie-French told Neil Mitchell she’s “surviving”.

She used to be very active: working, playing golf, and teaching children to dance.

“After the robberies, I haven’t been able to do a thing,” Elaine said.

Elaine said she met the perpetrators of the robberies as part of the court process.

“They’re very young, immature,” she said.

Elaine said the boys told her they were paid to commit the robbery.

The three teenagers were handed youth supervision orders on Monday, avoiding jail for their part in the robberies.

Their age, remorse, guilty plea, and their lack of other offending were factored into the sentence.

There are still two other alleged offenders going through the court process.
