Outrage over major funding shortfall for fire ant eradication
A leaked report reveals a major funding shortfall for a new national plan to eradicate fire ants by 2032, announced earlier this year.
State and territory leaders have brought forward all remaining funding to this year, due to the imminent threat.
Only New South Wales and Queensland have invested in eradication beyond next year.
Rural reporter Ella Smith spoke to Canegrowers Chief Executive Dan Gilligan to explain what else the leaked report reveals, and what it means for the fight against the pests.
