Plants helping seed solutions for recycling metals and minerals.

Researchers are drawing inspiration from plants to develop techniques which separate and extract valuable minerals, metals and nutrients from resource-rich wastewater.

Plant membrane separation mechanisms are being adapted to harvest, recycle and reuse important resources from water sources linked to mines and other manufacturing industries.

Rural reporter Brady Evans caught up with Australian National University associate professor Caitlin Byrt to find out more about the project.
