Regional Victorian hospital makes devastating mistake

A hospital in regional Victoria has wrongly informed a family that their loved one was dead.

Neil Mitchell revealed on 3AW Mornings that Ballarat Health Services wrongly told a family that their father had died.

“Can you imagine anything more cruel?” Neil said.

“I believe it took 48 hours before the mistake was discovered.”

The man was seriously ill after suffering a stroke.

Neil said a full independent review of the hospital must be conducted, but nothing has been guaranteed.
