Retailers should start charging ‘try on fees’, says The Finance Guru

Jacqui Felgate

3AW’s finance expert says clothing retailers should start charging special ‘try on fees’ for customers who try and don’t intend to buy.

The Finance Guru Scott Haywood has told Tom Elliott it’s the only way physical retail stores will survive the growing force of the internet.

“If you want to change, you have to pay change. That’s my model,” says Scott.

“Retail shops have simply become fitting rooms.”

Scott says people should be charged for trying on items, but the charge would come off the cost of the item when they buy it.
