Sounds of the sea used to boost oyster populations

Natural sounds of the sea are being blasted underwater in a bid to attract thousands of baby oysters to bare reefs.

Highly productive shellfish reefs once spanned thousands of kilometres, but more than 90% have been dredged up for food.

Rural Editor Sophie Clarke caught up with University of South Australia marine ecologist Dr Dominic McAfee to hear more about the results.
