Suspected shooting prompts no action from police

Tom Elliott

Victoria Police have failed to act, according to a man who made a statement to Melton Police about a suspected shooting.

Roger told Neil Mitchell one of his employees was driving on the Western Freeway towards Melbourne about 3.30pm yesterday when the incident occurred.

“He heard a loud bang, within a second the window absolutely shattered,” he said.

“If he had the window down he could have been killed.”

“What, you think he’s been shot at?” Neil asked.

“Yes, definitely,” Roger replied.

“We checked the door and it’s got chip marks like pellet marks.”

Roger said he made a statement to police saying they suspected the driver had been shot at.

“The police said they don’t have the resources to come out and view the vehicle and asked us to take it to the Werribee police station,” he said.

“It was raining and with no window I refused to do that.”

Roger said he had not been contacted by police today and was ‘gobsmacked’ at the lack of action.
