TAC boss slams Victorians over ‘alarming’ new statistics

Neil Mitchell

New research has found nearly a third of drivers admit to reading a text message while behind the wheel.

The TAC surveyed more than 700 drivers, of which 20 per cent admitted they would answer a phone call, and 13 per cent admitted to making a phone call.

TAC CEO Joe Califiore told Neil Mitchell what he made of those results.

“I just think that statistic is alarming,” he said.

“It’s concerning. It is an accident waiting to happen.”
