Jacqui Felgate

The CEO of Kmart sat down in studio with Tom Elliott to talk about their growing success and how the launch of Amazon in Australia will affect their business.

Tom Elliott says he’s a big lover of Kmart and so is his daughter, with Tom often buying pairs of shorts from the store.

Tom Elliott: “How do you make a pair of men’s shorts for $18 and still make a profit?”

Ian Bailey: “It’s all about attention to detail… We go direct to where they’re manufactured.”

On the agenda:

  • Factories – Where are the factories? Are they run by Kmart? Are they the works paid appropriately?
  • Prices – How does Kmart keep prices so affordable?
  • Workers – Do they hire older staff? Do workers receive less work once they turn 18?
  • Products – Kmart offer a HUGE variety of products, how do they keep ahead of the trend?
