The next big thing on the food scene…hemp

It’s being hailed as the newest super food.

Hemp will be legal to consume in Australia from next week, and foodies say it will be the next big thing in cafes and supermarkets.

Hemp Foods Australia CEO Paul Benhaim says the seeds are a super food with a nutty flavour, but there’s no hallucinogenic effect.

“No, you are not going to go off your trolley – except for with health and happiness,” he told Ross and John.

“The stuff we are talking about…it does not contain any THC, the stuff that gets you high or intoxicating.

“In fact it’s extremely healthy, for anyone from children to the more mature of us and everyone in between.”

He said hemp had numerous health properties.
