The supermarket price trick Tom Elliott thinks is an “absolute con”
Consumers are being hit by a phenomenon known as “shrinkflation”.
This is where a product gets more expensive not by raising its price, but rather by reducing its size.
Tom Elliott said it’s a “ridiculous” situation.
“I reckon this is an absolute con,” he said on 3AW Drive on Thursday.
But Tanya Barden from the Australian Food and Grocery Council said the weight of a product is clearly displayed to consumers.
