There are major flaws in airport security, says aviation expert
An aviation security expert has told 3AW the additional security measures are more or less a placebo to make people feel safe.
Passengers are to be handed additional wait times for at airports across Australia due to increased security checks.
Roger Henning, Chief Executive of Homeland Security, believes major flaws exist within airport security systems.
He told 3AW’s Neil Mitchell passengers can still buy tickets without ID and the airport workforce, particularly baggage handlers aren’t adequately screened.
“A very senior AFP officer addressed his troops on a major airport and said, ‘we’re not here to provide security, we’re hear to create a perception of security,’ and that’s where it ends,” he said.
