Vanuatu solution to farm worker shortage

There’s been a breakthrough for the mango industry who were facing a worker shortage this year.

A trial will see up to 170 workers from Vanuatu fly into Australia under the seasonal worker programme to assist with the mango harvest.

If the pilot is a success its hoped to be used in other industries facing shortages.

Rural editor Eddie Summerfield spoke with Australian Mangoes Chief Executive Robert Gray and National Farmers Federation Chief Executive Tony Mahar.
