Why does THAT still exist?

Ross and Russel

Australia still had 17,093 pay phones in operation in mid-2016, but does anyone actually use them?

The Productivity Commission says pay phones will be obsolete once the NBN has been rolled out, and has recommended that funding for the phones be cut immediately.

This morning Ross and John asked listeners what other items they’d like to see retired for good.

Here’s what they came up with:

  • Pay phones
  • Watches
  • Single sex schools
  • Medical certificates
  • Desktop computers
  • Yellow and White Pages
  • 5-cent pieces
  • Products containing asbestos (Yes, they’re still being made. Polaris kids quad bikes containing asbestos were recalled yesterday!)
  • Queen’s Counsel wigs and gowns
  • Neckties
  • Shoelaces
  • Spectacles
  • Manual cars
  • Flammable cladding
  • Passports

Click PLAY to listen to Ross and John chat with callers about the items they think should be retired.
