Why “unschooling” your kids is not a good idea

TOM ELLIOTT

You may have heard of “unschooling”.

That’s where children are allowed to decide what they learn, when they eat, and when they go to bed.

One mother in the UK has done it, but parenting educator Michael Grose thinks it’s a bad idea.

“Kids need to learn how to tolerate frustration and disappointment,” Mr Grose told Tom Elliott on Monday.

“When kids learn than, they learn self-restraint and self-regulation.

“When we let kids do what they want all the time, they don’t learn restraint.”

Tom said kids don’t make good decisions, which is why we don’t let them drive care or vote in elections.
