Fiona Patten wants to cap the amount of cash gamblers can withdraw at poker venues, saying the machines are “more damaging” than drugs.

The Reason Party (former Australian Sex Party) leader told Neil Mitchell the government wants to limit ATM withdrawals to $500 per day.

“I’m calling on them to reduce that to $200 a day,” she said.

“They are doing untold damage, particularly in my area in the north.”

“So you want cannabis freely available but you want pokies restricted?” Neil asked.

“Something like that Neil,” she replied.

“I suspect pokies are more damaging.”
