Police allegedly assaulted with a rock while arresting youth
A police officer has been viciously assaulted while trying to arrest a youth at Truganina.
Police were on patrol shortly after 2am on Friday when they spotted a Subaru being driven erratically.
The car stopped when intercepted by police and five youths fled.
Police managed to arrest one of the youths at the time.
However, it’s alleged two men then returned to the scene, with one allegedly assaulting a police officer with a rock.
They were also arrested.
The injured officer was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
A man handed himself in a short time later.
A Hoppers Crossing man, 20, was charged with assaulting an emergency services worker, intentionally causing injury, hindering police and assault with a weapon.
He appeared at Sunshine Magistrates’ Court today and has been remanded to appear again on Monday.
The other three men have been released pending further enquiries at this stage.
Police are still looking for one outstanding man in relation to the incident.
He is perceived to be of African appearance and was wearing dark clothing.
