Police announce motorcycle blitz ahead of MotoGP at Phillip Island
Motorcyclists will be the target of a massive road safety blitz set to get underway ahead of the MotoGP.
A staggering 43 motorcyclists have been killed on Victorian roads so far this year.
It’s almost double the number killed in the same period in 2015.
Assistant Commissioner Doug Fryer said every available unit would be on the roads looking for alcohol and drug-affected riders, speeding riders and unregistered riders heading to Phillip Island.
The Grand Prix gets underway on Friday.
Police will also target riders heading home from the big race on Sunday.
