Police announce vigilant actions against weapon crime
Police will blitz Melbourne’s CBD, shopping centers and train stations, including invoking special powers to perform on-the-spot weapons searches, after a string of violent but disconnected events.
This comes after a string of violent weapon related attacks around Melbourne, when asked if Melbournians feel safe in the city Police Commander Mark Galliott told Ross and Russ that past incidents like Bourke street last week have an impact on people feeling safe.
“They actually only last 12 hours, if we’ve seen violence in a particular area in the past 12 months where weapons have been used, then we can make an application and it is signed off and delegated by an assistant commissioner” The Police Commander said
