Police chase truck driver over West Gate Bridge smash

Police are on the hunt for a truck driver believed to have been involved in a smash which left a motorcyclist in a critical condition.

The crash caused chaos on the West Gate Freeway on Tuesday, shutting four outbound lanes at one stage.

It’s believed to have occurred at 12.42pm.

The exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined, with police yet to locate the driver of the truck.

Police have described the truck as a white prime mover with a red open trailer, carrying large, black industrial drainage pipes.
