Police say they are making inroads – cracking down on hoons despite yesterday’s horror crash on the Western Ring Road.

Two teenagers died in the crash – which has been linked to a gathering of up to 100 vehicles at Campbellfield.

Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton told Neil Mitchell – the hoons are becoming more organised and secretive but a taskforce has been set up to crack down on organisers.

‘Often they’ve taken plates off cars, so when you try and video it you’re not getting rego, things like that make it more complex,’ he explained on 3AW Mornings.

‘But this more organised approach we’ve taken – with the taskforce – has been reaping good results.’
