Victoria Police chief Shane Patton has slammed the “unacceptable” conduct of Senator Lidia Thorpe after she abused officers at a recent protest.

And he’s laughed off claims police pushed the Greens politician.

Ms Thorpe called police “criminals” and falsely accused them of locking up “innocent” people during a heated protest at the Melbourne Immigration and Transit Centre.

“The conduct of Ms Thorpe was unacceptable, it was inappropriate and really, really disappointing for somebody in her position,” Mr Patton told Neil Mitchell.
