Police Commissioner Graham Ashton says UFC is definitely not something the police wants to promote.

Neil Mitchell sat down with the Commissioner and asked him his views on the sport.

‘We’ve always had the view that we’re trying to reduce violence and youth violence in the community’.

‘We’d be inconsistent if we were advocating for UFC in an environment where were all about reducing one punch crime’.

Listener Anthony says UFC is easily comparable with ‘Formula One’ and ‘V8 Supercars’.

‘It’s the same philosophy, motor racing encourages speeding. UFC is a legitimate sport, you don’t have to like it’.

The Commissioner says – ‘I’m not an expert in motorsport, but what I see when I look at ‘Formula One’ is a huge safety focus.’
