Police crack down on ‘extremely dangerous’ hoon driving in Melbourne
Police are cracking down on “extremely dangerous” hoons who are putting the lives of others at risk.
Three alleged hoons have been arrested after videos of dangerous illegal meets in Melbourne’s north were posted on social media. Police executed warrants on Wednesday, arresting the accused and impounding their cars.
Victoria Police Acting Senior Sergeant Simon Borg says the state is experiencing “a little spike” in hoon activity and the behaviour seen in Tullamarine and Thomastown was extremely concerning.
“The actual offences, or the actual driving, was extremely dangerous to the point where it endangered the lives of other people being bystanders,” he told Tony Jones, filling in for Neil Mitchell.
“The person hanging out with one hand and one foot in the car, the mind boggles as to what they were thinking.”
