Police find carpet python in backpack of wanted man in Richmond

Police have been left rattled after finding a live carpet python while searching a wanted man’s backpack in Richmond on Tuesday.

A surprised police officer found the cold-blooded cargo after slipping his hand into the backpack belonging to the North Melbourne man with an outstanding warrant.

The man, who was not licensed to posses his scaly sidekick, was arrested on Victoria Street and the snake passed on to the environment department.
