Police force split over ice backflip at injecting room
The police force is divided over news the drug ice has been given the green light for use in the controversial North Richmond safe injecting room trial.
Victoria’s mental health minister clashed with Neil Mitchell over the backflip on Wednesday.
Martin Foley said police supported the change.
And while police command confirmed that claim, police association boss Wayne Gatt said his members were categorically opposed to the use of ice in the facility.
“This shifts the debate from a public health issue to a public safety issue,” he said.
