Police are on the hunt for a handful of Halloween home intruders.

It’s believed four offenders wearing masks and balaclavas tried to force their way into a Springvale home on Ellen Street around 2am on October 31.

A man in his late 20s, who was home at the time, has come to the front door to confront the offenders.

They quickly fled.

But the would-be intruders didn’t stop there.

It’s believed they then drove to a nearby address on Gove Street, forcing their way inside.

They were disturbed by the occupants who returned home shortly after.

A confrontation has then occurred on the street between the offenders and the victim, before the offenders have returned to the vehicle and driven away.

None of the occupants sustained any injuries in either of the incidents.

The investigation is ongoing and detectives have released images and CCTV of a vehicle they wish to identify, as well as a number of men they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who recognises the vehicle – a dark coloured four-door Holden Crewman Cross 8 utility with a distinctive canopy attached to the rear – or has any information relating to the identity of the offenders to come forward.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
