Police are searching for a driver who fled the scene of a crash in Melbourne’s south-east last week, which left a car on its roof and a driver in hospital.

A dark-coloured sedan changing lanes clipped the rear passenger side of a ute travelling west-bound on the Monash Freeway near Warrigal Road at Malvern East about 4.45pm last Wednesday.

It caused the ute to flip and slide down the freeway, coming to a stop about 100 metres from the scene of the collision.

The other car, possibly a Mercedes Benz or a Holden Calais/Statesman, did not stop.

A father-of-two who was driving the ute, was taken to hospital with incredibly, only minor injuries.

Tony Jones will speak to victim later in 3AW Mornings.
