An autistic teenage girl has bene left with serious injuries after an incident in Melbourne’s west.

The 15-year-old was walking along Blackshaws Road in Newport at about 11.30pm on February 20 when she laid down on the road.

She was then struck by a vehicle.

The girl was transported to hospital and has undergone multiple surgeries for fractured bones.

The vehicle didn’t stop and investigators say it’s possible the driver was unaware they’d hit someone.

The car is believed to be a small dark-coloured hatchback. Police have released CCTV of the vehicle in the hope someone recognises it.
